What is a Lasting Power of Attorney?
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which only you can authorise appointing up to four people, known as attorneys, to make decisions on your behalf. Two types exist (Property & Financial Affairs and Health & Welfare) and you can decide to make one or both.
Our Lasting Power of Attorney Service
To make a Lasting Power of Attorney, you must have mental capacity. A person suffering from dementia, stroke or Alzheimer’s disease may lack mental capacity. You should therefore consider making a Lasting Power of Attorney while you are in good health and able to do so.
It is important to choose attorneys that you know well and trust to always act in your best interests. Attorneys can be family members, friends or a professional such as a solicitor.
Before it can be used, a Lasting Power of Attorney must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. We can attend to registration as well as preparation of the documents.

Property & Financial Affairs
You can ask your attorney to make decisions on your behalf to begin at any time. The decisions your attorney could make include operating your bank accounts, managing your investments, paying your bills and selling your home.
Health & Welfare
Your attorney can only begin making welfare decisions for you if you can no longer manage your own affairs. The decisions your attorney could make include medical treatment, care needs, your place of residence and your daily routine.
