Abi is an Associate Partner and the Head of the Housing team at Sternberg Reed. She is a highly experienced senior litigation and landlord/tenant Solicitor.
As an expert in her field, Abi is often asked to consult for other practitioners in the field. She is a committed specialist in land law, housing and all matters property related. She has particular expertise in land disputes and the recovery of property together with housing and commercial litigation. She carries out work in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal. She regularly conducts trials and attends hearings in both the fast and multi-track with particular emphasis on succinct and persuasive argument.
She represents tenants and homelessness applicants who are in severe need. Abi has a detailed knowledge of Human Rights and discrimination law and their interaction with housing law and regularly runs Equality Act defences.
Abi is one of a minority of practitioners who can advise and represent clients in court in the complex legal area relating to gang injunctions.
She has successfully concluded many compensation claims for victims of client’s living or renting properties that are in a poor condition. She has successfully obtained compensation for clients who have suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, respiratory problems and have been exposed to asbestos, have had inhabitable premises condemned. She has supported families to achieve appropriate living accommodation and challenge Local Authority decisions.
She is an expert in the complex area of tenancy deposits and has managed to obtain large payments of compensation for tenants in this area.
Abi carries out a range of property work, and has advocated at the Residential Property Tribunal. She is able to advise on commercial landlord and tenant disputes and 1954 Act renewals and service charge disputes.
