Elliot started his practice at Sternberg Reed in August 2017 to enhance the firm’s Litigation & Business Law department. This ensures we can fulfil all of a business’s legal needs in the Essex and Greater London area. He specialises in employment / human resources law and general litigation.

His main focus is providing advice and representation for small and medium sized companies.

Elliot Hammer graduated with a degree in law from Manchester University in 2003. He then graduated from the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Chester in 2005.

He qualified as a New York attorney-at-law in 2008. Following this he qualified as a solicitor in 2014 in a boutique law firm in Mayfair.

Elliot’s current hourly rate whilst working out of our Barking, Romford, Stratford or Grays offices for clients based in Essex and the surrounding area is £250.00 per hour including VAT.

Elliot’s current hourly rate whilst working out of our Tower Bridge office for clients based in and around Central London is £360.00 per hour including VAT.

He can provide detailed commercial advice, ranging from all Human Resource / employment requirements to general commercial needs. This can include such things as commercial contracts, partnership agreements, franchising agreements and licensing agreements. At previous firms, Elliot has assisted in cases in the Court of Appeal (Habib Bank vs Tufail 2006 EWCA CIV 374 ( 07 April 2006). He advocated successfully in a recent Employment Appeal Tribunal which developed the law relating to Wrongful Dismissal vis a vis Unfair Dismissal : Don Pevi vs Royal Mail Group Ltd UKEAT / 0232/15/DA. Elliot has been involved in million pound High Court litigation for (and against) blue chip companies, whilst dealing in the day-to-day legal requirements of start-ups, small and medium sized companies. He has a particular expertise in advising restaurant groups.

Elliot is also a multi-jurisdictional lawyer, being both a solicitor of England and Wales and a New York attorney-at-law. A part of Elliot’s legal career has been lecturing and writing materials on US corporate, banking law and general commercial law. He has a developing practice in cases before the  London Court of International Arbitration and was recently involved in a large cross-jurisdiction breach of contract arbitration case in the LCIA.

Elliot is also part of the civil litigation team at Stenberg Reed. He can advise and represent clients in professional negligence, construction and building disputes, insurance disputes, banking disputes and personal insolvency.

In his spare time Elliot enjoys running marathons and 5-a-side football. For training, he regularly runs the 13 miles from our Barking office to home in Shoreditch. Elliot is also the highest belt in Thai Boxing (red: November 1991) and has fought in the ring in front of audiences around the UK.
