Martine qualified as a Solicitor in 1989. Since qualification she has specialised in criminal defence litigation and advocacy.  Before joining this firm as a Consultant, Martine was a founding partner of Thanki Novy Taube Solicitors in 1992 which was listed as a leader in its field in both the Legal 500 and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession.

Since qualification Martine has handled a wide range of serious and complex criminal cases both as a litigator and an advocate including murder, robbery, large-scale drug supply. She has defended in high profile anti-terrorism prosecutions involving planned attacks on the UK mainland and cases involving support for international armed conflict. She was also instructed by the US Federal Defender’s office to undertake factual research in the UK and provide legal advice in the case of the so called ‘20^th Hijacker.’

She has conducted a large number of highly complex fraud cases many of which have had an international dimension. She was instructed by BAE Systems to assist an employee during a major bribery investigation conducted by the SFO.

She has recently successfully defended two defendants in a multi-handed, high value tax investigation by HMRC involving the ‘Residency’ regulations and the admissibility of documents supplied by Swiss banks pursuant to the Schengen Agreement.

Martine has successfully employed experts to compliment the Defence Team in a wide range of different areas including ballistics, DNA and blood analysis, pathology, psychiatry, neurosurgery and forensic accounting.
