Family Mediation Fees & Funding Options

Legal Aid

Wherever possible we will provide our Mediation service through the Legal Aid scheme.  Legal aid is only available to those clients who are on a low wage or in receipt of certain benefits.

If you are uncertain if you would qualify for free Mediation Sessions then you can complete the legal aid calculator at www.gov.uk/legal-aid and follow the links to “eligibility”.  This will give you a good idea as to whether you are eligible. For further information please see our Free Mediation via Legal Aid page.

Alternatively, you can contact us and we will arrange an initial appointment to assess your eligibility as part of the mediation assessment meeting.  You will need to bring proof of your income to that first meeting.

If one party is eligible for Legal Aid then the government will pay for both clients’ assessment meetings. The Mediation sessions themselves are only free of charge if you are eligible for legal aid.

Privately Funded Mediation

If you are a private paying client then our rates for appointments completed during normal office hours are

  1. Initial assessment meetings – £100 plus VAT
  2. Mediation sessions – £125 plus VAT per person per hour
  3. Drafting documents following agreement – £250 to £600 plus VAT per document prepared.

We are able to offer a premium service, including evening and weekend appointments but these are not available at our standard charging rates. If you would like further details then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sometimes it is appropriate to arrange sessions for more than 1 hour and if this applies to you, our rates will be varied accordingly.

We charge an hourly rate of £200 plus VAT for any preparation work required outside of the mediation sessions excluding routine calls.

The number of sessions required depends on the issues in dispute.  On average it takes between 3 and 5 sessions to successfully complete the process.

½ day and full day mediation rates are available on request.

Payment can be made by credit or debit card, cheque or cash and is payable in advance of each session.
